22 Dec Don't Sweat It
If you’re anything like me you’re always trying to “get things done”. After all, you’ve got things to do, people to meet and tons of goals to reach. Yep, I’m constantly trying to accomplish that feeling of “aahhhh…it’s done”. My career is a success, bills are paid, voicemails returned, shopping finished (oh who am I kidding…there’s no “finished” in shopping), no unread emails sitting in the inbox…you know, done! Writing it makes it easier for me to see how ridiculous this sounds.
We’re never done. There will always be work to do, errands to run, people to get back to and huge dreams to accomplish. Understanding this (and really believing it) makes it so much easier to feel, well, sane. My dad constantly tells me to “don’t sweat the small stuff” (and yes, he did give me the book as a gift) in which I usually reply “I know, I know” while at the same time I am having twenty different thoughts about the upcoming week, what needs to get done and how to be even more productive.
Although I will never lose my passion for success and going after my dreams, I’ve decided that I am going to take my dad’s advice (for real this time :)) and “don’t sweat the small stuff”. Instead of trying to feel “done”, I’ll enjoy the journey, embrace all of life’s twists, turns and craziness and keep moving forward.
Do you have any great tips on how to keep from “sweating the small stuff”? Comment below…I’d love to hear them. 🙂
