28 Dec You'd Do It If…
“If I didn’t have my ‘day job'”, “If all my bills were paid”, “If I was in a big city filled with more opportunities”…yep, we say all sorts of things when trying to convince ourselves that we would be a huge success in (you fill in the blank here) if only we had different circumstances.
Let’s be honest, if you really want to do something…and I mean absolutely, passionately want to start something, build something, DO something to the point that it excites you during the day, keeps you up at night and every minute in between…you’ll figure it out and nothing will stop you. Yeah, you’ll hit a few bumps in the road and some may keep you down a little longer than others (especially in the beginning), but you’ll keep going because, well, you really have no choice. It’s either do or go crazy thinking about it and we both know which is the better option.
I just finished reading Do the Work by Steven Pressfield and it is AMAZING!! I love everything about this book especially when he talks about when to start your new and exciting project. Want to guess when that would be? When you’re not ready?!! What?!!…I know…don’t you just love it. We can’t wait to be fully ready when starting a new passion. We’ve just gotta start and watch how it unfolds beautifully right before our eyes.
I’m also a fan of Gary Vaynerchuck, author of Crush It . When on stage he emphatically encourages people to go after their dreams. Is it going to be easy? No! Will it involve hard work and dedication…um, of course, but if it’s your passion…really truly your passion, I don’t need to tell you…you know… it’s so worth it!
So stop telling yourself that you’d start something if only (fill in the blank). Decide right now to start. You’ll thank youself.
What new project, business venture or initiative are you going to start today? Come on…share it with us below…we’re waiting. 🙂
